Expect Moore…a note from our president
The holiday season is upon us. I hope all of you had a safe and happy Thanksgiving. Before we know it, Christmas will be here & gone again. Whatever you are planning for this holiday season, please enjoy these times with your family and friends.
We will be having a holiday gift shop (Peppermint Village) in the library December 8-12. This opportunity is available for the students to come and shop for their parents, grandparents and/or siblings. The holiday season is about the spirit of giving and this allows the students to think about giving rather than receiving. More information will be sent home w/ students the 1st week in December.
Until Next Year,
Allison Moore

Expect Moore…a note from our president
All I can say is CARNIVAL, CARNIVAL, CARNIVAL!!! Our carnival is right around the corner on Friday, November 14, from 6-9pm. Thank you to those of you that have donated goods for our silent auction, volunteered to help work the carnival and donated 2 liter bottles & snack cakes. We are still in need of more 2 liter bottles and volunteers to work from 8-9. Please email me if you are interested. I know this will be a very fun family night for all. Don’t forget to check out the silent auction in the library.
We will be having a canned food drive, phone book drive and cell phone drive. Please clean out those drawers and pantries and bring these items to the carnival with you.
We will be kicking off our paper recycling contest on November 14. This year Smith and Groves have decided to join us (I guess we scared Birmingham and Akin away). Please start saving all of that trash mail, holiday catalogs, school papers, etc…. and bring them to the yellow and green “Paper Retriever” bins in the back parking lot of the school. Let’s continue to show that Dodd is the “GREENEST”.
I hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

I would like to start out by thanking those of you that participated in our raffle sales. It was a huge success!!! Congratulations to the winners of the Nintendo Wii and $300 Mastercard. Also, 5 lucky students were drawn to go on a limo lunch with Mr. Evans to McDonalds. What fun that was!!!
I hope those of you that joined us for the spaghetti dinner enjoyed your night out of the kitchen. We served approximately 340 people. Thank you to all that volunteered and all that joined us for dinner. It was a fun family night at Dodd.
The November elections are drawing near. I’m sure most of you have heard about the WISD bond and tax ratification issues that we will be voting on. This election is extremely important to the future education of our children. We will have a representative from WISD at our general PTA meeting on October 14 at 7pm to answer any questions that you may have. Please join us so you can be well informed before casting your vote.
The Dodd carnival is planned for November 14. Please save the date and be looking for volunteer sign ups to come home with your child soon.

Expect “Moore” - A Note from your President
Although we have several fundraisers planned for this upcoming school session, we are always looking for more innovative and unique ways to raise money for our students and our school. I truly feel that the more active and involved parents become, the more satisfied you will be with the PTA’s efforts to serve our students. We welcome not only your thoughts and opinions, but your time and effort in volunteering as well. It would be amazing to see what we could accomplish if everyone could find a way to contribute.
We are in high hopes that we will not have to resort to catalog fundraiser sales this year. Our two main fundraisers will be a “Welcome Back To School” spaghetti dinner and raffle on Thursday, September 18, and a fall carnival and silent auction planned for November. We hope you will join us for these family events.
The PTA funds many events throughout the school year. We welcome you to come to one of our general PTA meetings to review our budget and get “in the know” about what your PTA is doing. Our 1st general meeting is planned for Tuesday, September 16 at 7:00pm. We will have a representative from WISD here to discuss and answer questions about the upcoming WISD bond election.
Again, I’m very excited to be serving as your PTA president and look forward to a great year.
Sincerely,
Allison Moore

Support Your Teacher on the Web!
Support your child & your teacher by visiting www.supportyourteacher.org and purchasing educational items that are shipped directly to your child’s classroom. Each teacher at Dodd has created a wish list there. Create a login, search for your teacher and voila! Let the giving begin! Because classroom supplies shouldn’t come from teacher’s paychecks.

One hour a month? One hour a week? Ten minutes a day? Great! We welcome any time commitment that you are willing to make to your children, your school, your teachers, your PTA. There are several board positions still open, but if you don’t want to serve on the board, we still have lots to do and never take your willingness to serve with us for granted. Please contact Allison Moore at allib5@verizon.net for more information.

We are looking for an Environmental Chairperson. Anyone interested in organizing recycle programs & other enviromental awareness activities, please contact Allison Moore @ allib5@verizon.net
Paper Recycling Contest
We will be having another contest this year. Save up that paper so we can win again!
- Did you know that you can recycle newspaper, magazines, shopping catalogs, office & school papers and mail: 24 hours/7days a week at our campus?
- Did you also know that we earn money for paper dropped off at our green and yellow Abitibi Paper Retriever® bin?
- This is an easy way for you to recycle your paper every week and help us raise money for projects like playgrounds, landscaping, books and other worthwhile activities. Please remember to bring your paper and drop it in the Abitibi Paper Retriever®. There is no financial commitment from you, just bring us your paper!
- For more information, log on to PaperRetriever.com
Thank you for your continued support of this important fund- raising effort!
