A Note from your PTA President!

Welcome back to all returning families and a big WELCOME to all new families.  I sincerely hope you had a great summer and enjoyed some rest, relaxation and quality family time.  We are very excited for the 2012-2013 school year. I look forward to serving as your PTA president.  We have an AMAZING PTA board this year and we are excited about getting the year started.

This year, more than ever, the PTA needs YOUR help. With the budget cuts, PTA support is more critical than ever before. The PTA raises funds to provide a wide range of educational enrichment programs for the students. Money raised through PTA membership, fundraisers like our Fall Pancake Dinner and Spring Carnival help to fund class fieldtrips, classroom supplies, school donations, field day, water day, and much, much more. As the new school year begins, we would once again ask for your support so that we can continue making resource and learning opportunities available to our children.

For the PTA to be effective and truly representative of the school, everyone’s participation is essential. We want everyone to feel that they are part of the Dodd Community. Whether you have 30 minutes or a couple of hours, your ideas, your time, and your talents are truly needed. There are endless possibilities in ways you can help.  Keep in mind that by volunteering, you will get to enjoy interacting with the kids, become friends with other parents, and accomplish things that truly make a difference. We have many ways in which Moms, Dads, Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents can contribute to the Dodd community. We promise that the time you give to the PTA and the school will be worth your while—and fun! Please consider volunteering, it really does make a difference in the lives of all our children!

Again I am very excited to be serving as your PTA president and I look forward to a GREAT school year.

Sincerely,
Patty Celis

From the Desk of the President ...

Wow! What a great first couple of weeks. PTA has been super busy getting ready for our Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of great students) program as well as our annual Fall Carnival and Silent Auction. Due to the success of our fundraisers last year, PTA was able to provide 3 smart boards for our school. We are hoping that this year will be as big of a success. For those of you who do not know, PTA usually has 2 main fundraisers; the Carnival/Silent Auction and Spaghetti Dinner/Raffle. We use family based fundraisers instead of catalog sales because we think it is more fun to spend time with your family. All profits from these fundraisers go directly back to the school to help fund programs such as Watch D.O.G.S., the 4th grade Green Team, School assemblies, as well as helping to make purchases to upgrade our school, and many more things. Please be looking for volunteer forms coming home to help with our Carnival. This fundraiser cannot be a success without the help of our volunteers. We need at least 142 volunteers to make this night a success! If you have questions or concerns or if you want to help with something but have not been asked to please don’t hesitate to email.

Morning Drop-off and Afternoon Pick-up Procedures

Please assist us with a smooth drop-off and pick-up by following these procedures.

Morning Drop-off procedures

Afternoon Pick-up Procedures

We appreciate the staff and crossing guard who are on duty to see to the students' safety. Please follow their directions while in the parking lot.

For Afternoon pick-up, students are walkers, bikers or car-riders. Please let your child's teacher know how they will be picked up.

Walkers - You can walk up and pick up your child at the 4th grade doors on Cheyenne. Please have your child's tag ready for verification.

Bikers - Students riding their bikes or scooters will exit the 2nd grade doors in the parking lot.

Car riders - Please have your child's tag in the right hand side window for the teachers on duty to see. Your child will then be called and waiting for you on the curb when you drive up.

No students can be picked up in the office during dismissal - 2:15 - 3:00 p.m.

Please be patient the first couple of weeks, as students learn their numbers and parents get used to the drop-off and pick-up routine.
