Need Volunteers for the Carnival!!
We are in desperate need of volunteers for the carnival. As of now we still need 84 more volunteers.
More volunteer forms and bracelet order forms are being sent home this week. We have also attached them to this email. Please fill them out and send them in ASAP. Remember that we can't possibly have a successful carnival without the help of our volunteers.
You can avoid the long entry lines at the carnival if you purchase your carnival bracelets in advance.
We are also needing donations of 2 liter sodas, bags of candy, and boxes of snack cakes. Please drop these off in the Dodd office.
We appreciate your help!!!

Expect Moore…a note from our president
The school year is winding down once again. I want to thank everyone for their support of Dodd & the Dodd PTA. It hasbeen a great school year. We still have several events planned for the end of this year. Field Day is Friday, May 14th. Weare no longer taking shirt orders, but if you are available to help on this day, please turn in your volunteer forms orcontact Coach McCrary at angie.mccrary@wylieisd.net. Field Day can’t be successful without the help of our wonderful volunteers. It is so much fun for the kids and they love having their parents there helping out. We will be having a waterday on the last day of school (something new this year). We will also need volunteers for that, so be watching yourstudents folders as the middle of May arrives.
We held elections for the 2010-2011 Dodd PTA board at our general meeting on April 15th. Congratulations to yournewly elected board: President – Debra Meyer, 1st VP – Lisa Ulmer, 2nd VP (Membership)- Marla Mathis, 3rd VP(Fundraising)- Michelle Math, Treasurer – Bobbie Grogins, and Secretary – Autumn Bright. We appreciate the time andcommitment that these ladies are willing to put forth. On that note, I want to thank my current board. We have had agreat 2-3 years together and I couldn’t have asked to work with a better group of ladies (and a gentleman). A few ofthem will be leaving us for good….Tracy Benner, Veronica & Jay Koebel, Lori Wakeman, and Del Thatcher. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Yearbooks will be delivered in May. If you haven’t ordered yours yet, it’s not too late. They will be available for salewhen they arrive.
Enjoy these beautiful spring days because the summer heat will be here before we know it.
Thanks again for your support.
Sincerely,
Allison Moore

Thank Heavens for Teachers…
I Want To Be Like You
Thank you, teacher,
for being my life's role model.
When I consider all you've taught me
and reflect on the kind of person you are,
I want to be like you—
smart, interesting and engaging,
positive, confident, yet unpretentious.
I want to be like you—
well-informed and easy to understand,
thinking with your heart as well as your head,
gently nudging us to do our best,
with sensitivity and insight.
I want to be like you—
giving your time, energy and talent
to ensure the brightest possible future
for each of us.
Thank you, teacher
For giving me a goal to shoot for:
I want to be like you!

Remember that the spaghetti dinner & raffle are one of our major fundraisers. If this fundraiser is successful, this is what the funds will be used for: BMX biker (all day) assembly stressing importance of bike safety, saying no, violence prevention, self-esteem & goal setting; Dodd Family Sock Hop; Dodd Family Movie Night; teacher appreciation week; Earth Day Celebration; water day on the last day of school; and field day.
(Recap from last newsletter in case you missed it) Looking forward to April and May…….just so you can mark your calendars. Friday, April 16th, will be our 2nd annual Dodd Sock Hop. If you joined us last year, you know how much fun it was. If you missed it, you won’t want to miss out on the fun this year. Field Day is scheduled for Friday, May 14th. I’m letting everyone know about this early because we rely greatly on volunteers to make this a success. I know most parents that volunteer need to request off work for that day, so, now you know the date.
Don’t forget about our paper recycling contest that is going on right now. Currently Dodd is in 4th place. We are competing against every elementary school in Wylie. We will be holding this contest until the end of March. Please bring your junk mail, catalogs, school papers, etc. to the green and yellow Paper Retriever bins in the back parking lot at the school.
Can’t wait to see everyone at the spaghetti dinner. We are planning food for 400 so show up early to make sure you get a plate. 1st come, 1st served.

Thank you to all of the dads that have volunteered their time in our Watch D.O.G. program. This program has been such a success. The kids love having their dads at school helping out.
As always, if you have the time, try to make it up to the school to volunteer. There are multiple volunteer opportunities waiting for you. Hope everyone has a happy and healthy 2010.

Staff Appreciation
For January, I'm going to do a healthy snack basket for the Staff. No volunteers needed this time, thought everyone needed a break after the holidays.
In February sometime around Valentine's Day we will be doing Brownies and Strawberries. My budget will pay for the strawberries, but I need volunteers to make brownies. I'll be sending out an email towards the end of January to give a date and get volunteers.
Thanks as always for all your help to show the Staff how much we appreciate them!

Reflections 2011-2012 Theme Search
Congratulations to our very own, Chloe Lope! Her theme was one of 5 selected to compete at the National level. The Texas PTA received approximately 550 theme ideas. As you may or may not know, National PTA selects one entry from approximately 250 entries from across the 50 states to be the Reflections theme. This is done 2 years in advance, so the winning theme idea chosen will be the Reflections theme for 2011-1012. National PTA will announce the winner at their Convention in June 2010. The winning entry will be posted on their website when it is announced. Good Luck Chloe!!
