Expect “Moore” ….. a note from your PTA President

Do you smell that spaghetti? It is just around the corner. The 2nd annual Dodd Family Spaghetti Dinner is Friday, February 19. All of our food is being donated by area restaurants. Please check out the flyer (to be coming home soon) to see what restaurants are helping us out this year. Please remember to help your kids sell those raffle tickets for the iPod Touch (32GB) or $300 Visa. So far, the raffle sales aren’t looking so hot. We’re hoping people have sold a bunch and just haven’t turned them in. You can get more raffle tickets in the school office if needed. The raffle drawing will be at 7pm at the spaghetti dinner. We hope to see your there.

Remember that the spaghetti dinner & raffle are one of our major fundraisers. If this fundraiser is successful, this is what the funds will be used for: BMX biker (all day) assembly stressing importance of bike safety, saying no, violence prevention, self-esteem & goal setting; Dodd Family Sock Hop; Dodd Family Movie Night; teacher appreciation week; Earth Day Celebration; water day on the last day of school; and field day.

(Recap from last newsletter in case you missed it) Looking forward to April and May…….just so you can mark your calendars. Friday, April 16th, will be our 2nd annual Dodd Sock Hop. If you joined us last year, you know how much fun it was. If you missed it, you won’t want to miss out on the fun this year. Field Day is scheduled for Friday, May 14th. I’m letting everyone know about this early because we rely greatly on volunteers to make this a success. I know most parents that volunteer need to request off work for that day, so, now you know the date.

Don’t forget about our paper recycling contest that is going on right now. Currently Dodd is in 4th place. We are competing against every elementary school in Wylie. We will be holding this contest until the end of March. Please bring your junk mail, catalogs, school papers, etc. to the green and yellow Paper Retriever bins in the back parking lot at the school.

Can’t wait to see everyone at the spaghetti dinner. We are planning food for 400 so show up early to make sure you get a plate. 1st come, 1st served.
