Expect Moore…a note from our president

The 1st Dodd Sock Hop was a huge success. The kids and parents seemed as though they
were having a great time. It was wonderful to see so many parents and kids dancing and
enjoying a great family night at Dodd. Thank you to all of you that participated!!
As always, thank you to all of our volunteers. There are so many volunteer opportunities
available throughout the year and the Dodd parents and faculty really step up to help out.
Field Day will be May 15. We hope you will be able to join us as this is a terrific way to
celebrate the end of another successful year here at Dodd. Be watching for volunteer forms &
parent t-shirt order forms (students are paid for by the PTA) to come home soon in your
child’s folder.
PTA board elections will be held at the general PTA meeting on Tuesday, April 14. We will
have a fun and exciting program by Mad Science and a representative from WISD will be here
to discuss the upcoming bond election in May.
We are still looking for willing parents to join us on the PTA board for next year. If you are
interested in becoming involved, please contact me.

Field Day is a comin’

Here’s what our shirts will look like this year! Dodd’s field day is scheduled for May 15 this year.
This is a great day for you to spend with your child(ren) as it’s chock full of fun, fun, fun! We
need lots of volunteers to make everything run smoothly. Put it on your calendar and request
that day off from work! You won’t regret it! Hope to see you all there!

Staff Appreciation

Your funds are being put to good use. On Thursday, March 26, teachers stayed late for the Parent/Teacher Conferences and we provided dinner for them. Thank you so much for being such generous parents! The teachers were so thankful for the meal. A big thank you to Debra Meyer, her husband, Jonathan and Allison Moore for helping deliver the food to the classrooms. Thanks
again for always being willing to help!

ABITIBI: $$ for Your Paper!

Dodd is still in the lead with the paper recycling contest against Groves & Smith. The weights have
not been posted for the end of March yet, but Dodd has rocked the competition up until now. Groves & Smith will have to pull some enormous weights to take the lead from us. The contest ends officially April 3rd, but please don't stop recycling....let's all do our part in keeping our
earth beautiful.

A special thanks to the 4th grade Green Team led by Mrs. Boyd. They have worked hard every Friday to empty the recycle bins & prove that Dodd is the "greenest" school in WISD. Also, a special thanks to the parent volunteers that have assisted Mrs. Boyd throughout the year.

Reflections News…

WOW! We had an amazing response to our Reflections program for 2008-2009. Texas students, including Dodd, created more than 100,000 pieces of art, and nearly 2,100 of those entries advanced to the state-level of judging! Unfortunately, no entries from Dodd were chosen to advance to the national level. The theme for next year will be "Beauty is..." Start thinking now what this means to you and let's make next year just as great!
