Expect Moore…a note from our president

We are in the beginning stages of planning for next years PTA board. If you are interested in getting actively involved in the PTA, we would love for you to join our AWESOME team. Some people may think “I’ve got a job & kids, I don’t have time for the PTA”. Most of us also have jobs & we all have kids, but being active in the Dodd PTA is a rewarding experience on so many levels. A few of the appointed positions that are open are: youth protection, yearbook, staff appreciation, Watch D.O.G.S., field day, spirit wear, AR store, volunteer coordinator, and carnival. If you are interested or have questions, please contact me at allib5@verizon.net . If you are interested in running for an elected position (President, VP-fundraising, VP-membership, 1st VP, treasurer or secretary, please contact one of the members of our nominating committee (Leslie Simms, Michelle Math, Karen Alexander, Tracy Benner).

Thank you to those of you that joined us for the 2nd Annual Dodd Spaghetti Dinner and/or participated in the raffle ticket sales. We fed approximately 250 people at the dinner and sold approximately 2,000 raffle tickets. Please support those businesses that donated items for the spaghetti dinner: Goodfellas (Wylie), ChickFilA (Murphy), Dickey’s (Wylie), Olive Garden (Garland).

The winners of the raffle for the 32GB IPod Touch and $300 Visa were Morgan Holcomb and Kadee Spry. Congratulations to both of them.

The top 3 raffle sellers along with 1 random student drawn from each grade will go on a “Limo Lunch” with Mr. Evans and Ms. Duvall. The winners of the lunch are Jake Ballard (top seller), Reese Moore (top seller), Kaylee Chavers (top seller), Morgan Holcomb (K), Mason Sticher (1st), Dylan Pitts (2nd), Bradyn Bright (3rd), and Zoe Ellis (4th).

Volunteers were nominated and then voted on for Dodd Volunteer of the Year by our Dodd staff & PTA. Thank you to our nominees for their time and commitment to Dodd Elementary. The nominees were Laura Martinez, Jennifer Martinez, Heather Petty, Tracy Benner, and Jay & Veronica Koebel. Congratulations to Jay & Veronica for being voted as Dodd Volunteer(s) of the Year. We appreciate all of our volunteers very much!!
Please don’t forget to bring your junk mail, catalogs, newspapers, class papers, etc…. to our green/yellow Paper Retriever bins in the back parking lot. Our paper recycling competition will continue until March. Right now Dodd is in 4th place of all the Wylie elementary schools.
